Dear Diary, For some reason, I'm running late. Thought I had it all together last night, but guess not. I'm meeting up with Ron by his house at 7:30am, then off to pick up the Pattison's at 8. Then we all head over to C-470 & Morrison Road to meet up with the Ellinger's. We are the 2nd group to head for Gunnison for the show there this weekend. I'm so excited and I hope we have no problems along the way. The first group consisted of the Kellner's, Pace's, Horton's, & Runkle's. The McDonald's met up with everyone at Poncha Springs. After the Ellinger's got to the Conoco station we chatted then decided we best be getting on the road. It was about 9:30am & we have a long way to go. And what great weather we have to drive in. We had a pit stop in Fairplay, otherwise it was a great drive. We decided on stopping in Salida for lunch, Tom & Sheila have a good place for us to eat there. And it was a great place. Lots of car people there, most of whom we met either at the Conoco or in Fairplay. We were trying to decide who was following whom? It's been a great drive so far & we have had a lot of fun. We finally drove into Gunnison around 3pm. The Hotel was just on the west side of the park. The Nova's were parked out front & so were some of our members. Everyone found their rooms and then we all got together to decide what to do next. Sandy & I went in search of a car wash, the bugs were bigger than I wanted to clean by hand. We were going to meet at 5pm downtown and park on Main Street. They parked us down the 2 sides and middle of the street. The Nova's were 1st in line, which was nice. Then we walked back a block to get our registration bags. And was I surprised when I was given a special bag of goodies because I was the president. How special!!! It was full of cookies, peanuts, chips, & chocolate mint wafers. YUM M M M There was a live band, Joey Fender & dancing in the streets until??? About 7, we decided it was late & we were all hungry, so we found a place called the Quarter Circle for dinner. It looked like a BBQ place, so we were ready for BBQ, they managed to seat all 16 of us quickly. We were split up which we are used to. When we opened the menu's what a surprise. I don't think too many of us had BBQ, we had chicken, steak and everything else on the menu. And the food was wonderful and it was served quickly. Sheldon & Rick will be here in the morning. He is going to leave around 4am so he can get here early. Then we will be 9. After dinner, we decided that it was time for bed, no dancing in the streets for us. |
